Butterfly bistability in grating coupled thin film waveguides

Abstract:

A new form of butterfly bistability was obtained in InSb waveguides for the throughput signal when two grating couplers were used, one for in-coupling and one for out-coupling. The nonlinearity was thermal and diffusive.
