Ge/Si (001) Photodetector for Near Infrared Light

We present the application of a voltage tunable photodetector as a spectrum analyzer for the near infrared. Two Schottky photodiodes with different spectral response are realized back to back on the same substrate in order to obtain voltage controlled tunability. The spectrum of a light beam impinging the device can be resolved from a set of photocurrent measurements taken at different bias voltages.
